Orsinger Low Water Crossing
Orsinger Low Water Crossing
During storm events this area is a dangerous Low Water Crossing (LWC) with deep water. There have been 3 swift water rescues recorded within a 10 year period (2007-2017) at this location. This project includes channel improvements, street reconstruction and the replacement of the existing small pipe culvert on Orsinger with larger box culverts (or small bridge) to improve this low water crossing. Street reconstruction items include modifications to driveway approaches, curbs and sidewalks as required. A Preliminary Engineering Report was conducted for the Sleepy Hollow LWC to the north of the Orsinger LWC location for possible project extension. The proposed projects would not remove homes from the 100-year regulatory floodplain, would allow for safe passage in up to 1.75” rain events, would require extensive permitting and would have required removal of many trees. The Orsinger LWC project underwent design changes based on neighborhood feedback on tree preservation. Therefore, the Sleepy Hollow LWC was not added to the project limits.
